The new 98.5 The Sports Hub, WBZ-FM, hit the airwaves on Thursday afternoon, giving Boston sports fans a new, alternative station for opinions and analysis on New England teams.

After rebroadcasts of the Patriots' Super Bowl victories aired from 3 a.m. to 1 p.m., Michael Felger and Tony Massarotti took over as the first show heard on the station. The duo will work together on weekdays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the afternoon drive slot, looking to bring a different approach and new perspective to the Boston sports world.

"Success has changed [the media],’’ Felger told the Boston Globe. ‘‘There are fewer media people who will go after teams. There are more media people who have relationships with coaches and general managers and teams. That has changed the media coverage here. And if there’s one thing about this show that I would say … it’s that we won’t have those relationships that pretty much anywhere else you’re going to hear around this town."

The radio home of the Boston Bruins and the New England Patriots, the station also features some prominent names in Boston sports and entertainment.

Fred Toucher and Rich Shertenlieb will host the morning show on the station from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by Gary Tanguay and Scott Zolak in the midday from 10 a.m to 2 p.m.

After Felger and Massarotti, Damon Amendolara takes over from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
