The Cavaliers wrapped up Leon Powe to a two-year, $1.77 million deal on Wednesday afternoon but no one is more excited about this transaction than Powe himself.
The former C's forward who spent three years in Boston, is not only looking forward to playing with yet another title contender, but the California native is excited at the thought of playing with a future Hall of Famer and the game's most dominant player.
"It's a great opportunity," Powe said. "Shaq [Shaquille O'Neal] is one of the greatest
players of all time, and 'Bron [LeBron James] is going to be right there in that
category. I'm playing with two great personalities, two great people.
They also like to have fun. They're down to earth. That's the fun thing
about playing with guys like them. It's easy to get along with them,
and it's easy to play with them because they're unselfish."
Unfortunately for Powe and the Celtics, it wasn't a smooth road out of town. Just months following a torn ACL and meniscus suffered during Game 2 of a first-round series against the Chicago Bulls, Powe appears to feel a bit upset at how Boston handled everything.
"They said they couldn't do anything for me," Powe told cleveland.com via conference call. "I didn't understand that. From my standpoint, I was looking at it like I'm a loyal person. They told me it was a business. But I thought they were at least going to offer me a one-year deal to see if I made it back on my feet. But in talking to me, they gave me no indication they were going to do anything. That's when we all got a little bit worried."
