Glen 'Big Baby' Davis Reveals New Origin of Nickname There have been many theories thrown about regarding the birth of Glen "Big Baby" Davis' nickname. There was the simple observation that he looked like a big baby. There are Internet sites saying he gained a reputation of a whiny player, and there are stories of his inability to prevent himself from crying.

The Celtics' forward revealed on Saturday how, exactly, he developed his nickname. As a warning, the answer may bore you.

"I was a big baby, literally. I was 14 pounds," Davis said while speaking to a group of children in Laconia, N.H. "[The nickname] just stuck with me throughout my career."

While a 14-pound newborn is a somewhat scary thought, it's somewhat disappointing that a nickname could be so literal.

The Big Hurt seemed like he wouldn't hurt a fly. Magic Johnson never cast spells like Harry Potter. The Fridge never, well, you get it.

Davis answered a number of other questions from children at the event, The Citizen of Laconia reports. Davis said he wears a size 15 shoe and that he hopes the Celtics will bring home their 18th championship this year.

"I'm just trying to stay disciplined and work hard," he said. "There's still a long way to go."
