The Jets made some roster moves on Friday in preparation for Saturday night's showdown with the Giants, claiming punter Glenn Pakulak off waivers while waiving punter Ken Parrish and linebacker Josh Mauga, according to The Associated Press.

Pakulak played in eight games for New Orleans in 2008, averaging 47.7 yards per punt. He was waived by the Saints on Aug. 17. While he has never played in a full NFL season, he has done stints with a number of teams and has played in NFL Europe. He is expected to compete for the job with Reggie Hodges.

First-year head coach Rex Ryan told the AP he is unhappy with the work Hodges and Parrish have put in during training camp, necessitating the move.

"The punter should be the least of our worries," he said.

Parrish, 25, was a two-time All American at East Stroudsburg University. He appeared in the Jets' 24-23 preseason loss to Baltimore. Mauga, a rookie out of Nevada-Reno, also made his debut against the Ravens after being signed by New York on Aug. 16.
