Chris Woodward's defining moment in a Red Sox uniform will be failing to even offer at a pitch in a bunt attempt in a big spot in the ninth inning.

The 33-year-old journeyman infielder was designated for assignment by the team following the 8-4 win, manager Terry Francona told NESN's Heidi Watney after the game.

Woodward appeared in just five games for the Red Sox, going 0-for-4 with a walk.

Francona said that newly acquired Alex Gonzalez will be with the team on Saturday.
