Wakefield Scratched From Tuesday's Start Tim Wakefield gave up one run in seven innings on Wednesday and all he got was this lousy back pain.

The veteran knuckleballer, after looking as sharp as ever in his first start since going on the disabled list in early July, is experiencing back problems and will miss his next start, according to NESN's Heidi Watney.

In Wakefield's place, Jon Lester will start on Tuesday night in Tampa. Paul Byrd will make his 2009 Red Sox debut on Sunday against Roy Halladay and the Blue Jays.
