With Key Additions, House Expecting Greatness for Celtics

This offseason, the Celtics were busy filling in some vacant spots on their bench and no one is more excited or confident than guard Eddie House

House, who averaged 8.5 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game in 81 contests last season, couldn't be more thrilled with the team's improved depth this upcoming season and dishes all praise to the front office for making the right moves.

"Good moves. Great moves. I think we filled the void that we missed last year," House told NECN when asked about the offseason acquisitions. "When Kev [Kevin Garnett] and Leon [Powe] went down, we didn't have enough big bodies. Danny [Ainge] went out and made sure that wouldn't be an issue."

Weeks after the addition of All-Star Rasheed Wallace, the C's announced the signing of Shelden Williams and the re-signing of Glen Davis. Both forwards offer front-line depth on the Celtics bench. Boston has also all but officially added Marquis Daniels, the former Pacers forward, to come in and back up C's captain Paul Pierce.

"[Daniels] adds depth to the wing spot, and that gives Paul [Pierce] a break — he doesn't have to log as many minutes," House added. "You can go a bunch of different combinations with this team, and even with Baby [Glen Davis] coming back, that was huge — we need that punch coming off the bench."

With all their ducks in a row, it's only a matter of putting points together and keeping team chemistry strong. However, just like last season proved, health is everything. And without it, a title is improbable.

"We're in a great position and now it's a matter of what we can do. But the main thing is health — if we stay healthy, then it's up to us to just go out on the court and put it together," he added. "We expect huge things from us. You guys can expect whatever you want, but we know what we're expecting in between those walls and it's nothing but greatness and being a champion."
