The Waltham police report detailing the specifics of Davis’ fight have been released, according to Boston.com.
Waltham Detective William Stanton said the two friends had an argument that stemmed from an interaction between Bridgewater and Davis’ girlfriend. While they were driving home from a night out with their girlfriends, Bridgewater allegedly punched Davis and Davis retaliated, then pulled his car over and the fight continued on a quiet street in Waltham.
Someone called 911 just after 4 a.m. to report the incident.
“We got the call for domestic disturbance, which it wasn’t,” Stanton told Boston.com. “The cops got there and they spoke to Davis as he was bleeding from the nose. They said they stopped [the car] and continued to argue and that’s why we were called.”
According to the report, Davis said that Bridgewater was welcome to come back to his home and that the two “had been friends since childhood.” Neither filed charges, and Bridgewater admitted he threw the first punch.
“This is something that is referred to as a ‘mutual soft battery’ between two people,” Stanton told the Web site. “We didn’t see it so we really don’t have all that much to do about it and nobody wanted to pursue anything. So that’s it from our end. There was nothing here short of two guys having a beef.”
Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck confirmed to The Boston Globe on Tuesday morning that Davis is likely to be suspended for the altercation.
