Doc Rivers Taking It Easy on Veterans Heading Into SeasonA high dose of rest and relaxation is just what the Doc is ordering.

According to the Boston Herald, Celtics head coach Doc Rivers is going to limit the playing time of his regulars heading into the season, sitting the starters for the final preseason contest against the Cavaliers at Ohio State on Wednesday.

“They’re going to play Sunday and Tuesday,” Rivers told the Herald of games at Toronto and New York. “None of them are playing on Wednesday. I can tell you that now. Very few of them will play on Wednesday.”

The C's skipper wants to keep things safe for his big-name players and also doesn't want to show the Cavs his hand as Boston opens the regular season in Cleveland on Oct. 27.

“It’s tough because we play them the first game, so no way we’re going to play our guys,” Rivers said. “It’s just tough luck. When we made the preseason schedule, neither team knew that we would open up with each other (six) days later.”
