Ice Chips: BU's Nick Bonino, UNH's Bobby Butler Primed to Shine

The 2009-10 Hockey East season is off and running and NESN.com begins its weekly rundown of the nation's most competitive collegiate hockey conference.

Expecting to soar this winter is Boston University's Nick Bonino. This Unionville, Conn., native enters his junior season with 34 goals and 45 assists for 79 career points, although through the first three games played, the Ducks' draft pick has been held off the score sheet.

Bobby Butler from New Hampshire is also due to make waves this year for the Wildcats in the Granite State. The senior already has four goals and four helpers through the first five games of the season and has 36 goals and 40 assists for 76 points in 119 career contests.

After graduating from Springfield College, John Beattie spent two seasons reporting for the New York Jets' Internet and Publications department before the Longmeadow, Mass. native joined NESN. While at Springfield, Beattie played first base and outfield for the Pride.
