BOSTON — NESN, New England’s most watched sports network, has signed Mike Milbury to a multiyear contract extension. Mike will return for a third season as studio analyst for the network’s pregame, intermission and postgame Bruins coverage. In addition to his game-day duties, Milbury will also continue to host The Instigators, NESN’s weekly NHL issues and debate program scheduled to begin its second season in December. Mike will also contribute to NESN.com as part of the Web site’s commitment to provide the deepest and most complete coverage of hockey.

"In two years Mike has become one of the premiere analysts on television," said Joel Feld, NESN’s executive vice president of programming and executive producer. "He is candid, not shy about offering his opinions and backs it up with a thorough understanding of the game and how to express that knowledge to hockey fans."

"I’m thrilled to continue with NESN and grateful for the opportunity to work with such a talented and dedicated team," said Mike Milbury. "I’m looking forward to following the Bruins again this season as they strive to bring the Stanley Cup back to Boston."

Milbury, a Massachusetts native, spent 11 seasons with the Bruins as a defenseman playing in over 750 games. After retiring as a player, he stayed in the organization as head coach of the Maine Mariners before returning to Boston for two years as the Bruins head coach, leading the Bruins to the Stanley Cup finals during the 1989-90 season. In 1995 Milbury was hired by the New York Islanders where he served as general manager as well as three stints as head coach. In June 2006 he stepped down from his role as general manager to take a position as senior vice president and resigned from that position in May 2007.

In addition to his duties at NESN, Milbury will enter his third season as a studio analyst for NBC’s NHL coverage and will once again be part of the network’s coverage of the NHL Winter Classic when the Bruins host Philadelphia at Fenway Park on New Year's Day. Mike has also appeared weekly on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada.
