Report: Julian Edelman Has Broken Arm

Julian Edelman Despite the most lopsided win in Patriots history, New England's offense suffered a bad break on Sunday afternoon at Gillette Stadium.

In the Pats' 59-0 thumping of the Titans, Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman suffered a broken arm, according to the Boston Herald.

Edelman wasn't at practice on Tuesday. The rookie wideout has 21 catches for 188 yards this season while also serving as a punt returner in his first year out of Kent State, where he played quarterback.

This year's 232nd overall draft pick appeared to have taken over as the Patriots' third receiver, especially after the club released Joey Galloway on Tuesday.

Special teams captain Sam Aiken, whom the team extended through the 2011 season this past week, is likely to step into the No. 3 receiver role unless the Pats choose to find a free agent receiver. Matthew Slater, a second year veteran out of UCLA, is listed as the team's fifth and final receiver on the active roster while rookie Terrence Nunn is listed as the lone practice squad receiver. Another rookie, Brandon Tate from UNC, is on the active/non-football injury list.
