Canucks General Manager: Peter Forsberg Staying in Sweden This Season
If reports from Canucks general manager Mike Gillis are true, the Bruins won't be seeing center Peter Forsberg don the spoked B this season.
GIllis has told The Associated Press that the 12-year NHL veteran will remain in Sweden for the rest of this season and won't return to the NHL.
"My understanding is Peter is going to stay and play in Modo and he won't return to the NHL this year," Gillis said Monday. "I think it's a tribute to him that he didn't want to put himself in a position where he was taking a roster spot and not being an everyday player in the NHL."
Gillis was one of many general managers, including Boston's Peter Chiarelli, who considered adding Forsberg this season, despite the veteran's nagging ankle injuries.
