Victor Martinez will be with the Red Sox for 2010, but after that it's anyone's guess as to where the switch-hitting catcher/first baseman will end up. Martinez's agent Alan Nero said there has yet to be discussions regarding an extension for Martinez, WEEI.com reports.

Martinez's $7.7 million option for 2010 for picked up by the Red Sox on Monday, as he will serve as the starting catcher for the club next season. And while an extension beyond 2010 is certainly a possibility, there haven't been talks about one.

"There's been no indication on their part, or our part, that that will happen," Nero told WEEI.com at the GM meetings in Chicago. "We're comfortable in whatever they want to do. If they come to us, obviously we'll listen. But neither Theo [Epstein] or Ben [Cherington] have called and said, 'Hey, we want to talk long-term.' There was little or no dialogue at all prior to them exercising the option. The bottom line is that we're content, he's happy to be a Red Sox, and he's going to be a Red Sox for the next year."

If Martinez doesn't sign an extension this season, he will be come a free agent for the first time in his career at the end of the season.
