It seems that every time the Dolphins get a little bit of good news, it is soon followed by the bad — and this time, it’s that Ronnie Brown could be done for the season.
The running back will miss Thursday’s game against Carolina after injuring his right foot, according to the Associated Press, and his status for the remainder of the season is currently up in the air.
Brown — who leads the Dolphins with 648 rushing yards and has eight touchdowns this season — sustained the injury in Sunday’s win over Tampa Bay. Ricky Williams will start in his place against the Panthers.
Fortunately, Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano isn’t worried about letting Williams shoulder the extra workload.
“The guy takes tremendous care of himself,” Sparano said. “This guy has worked like crazy for the year and a half that we’ve been here. Watching him work the way he works, you wouldn’t think he’s 30-plus years old.”
Williams, 32, is currently averaging a career-best 5.3 yards per carry.
Will Williams replace Brown in the Wildcat formation, too?
“Who knows? May not even run it,” Sparano joked. “Never know.”
