Red Sox Send Cash to Kansas City to Complete Tug Hulett Deal

Kansas City will be receiving a stack of cash for sending infielder Tug Hulett to Boston back on Nov. 25.

According to Bob Dutton of the Kansas City Star, the Red Sox will not be sending a player over. Both parties agreed that Boston will be sending cash to complete the deal made earlier this offseason.

The left-handed hitting infielder owns a .194 batting average with one homer and three RBIs in 45 career games. He spent most of last season with the Royals' Triple-A Omaha affiliate, where he hit .291 with 11 home runs and 53 RBIs in 99 games. 

With the Royals in 2009, the 26-year-old hit .111 in 18 at-bats with one RBI in 15 games. The son of former major leaguer Tim Hulett. brings versatility to the Red Sox, as he appeared in five games at second base, two games in right field, and one game at third base, shortstop and left field, respectively.
