Boston Celtics center Kendrick Perkins is one of 27 players who have been named to the 2010-12 U.S. national team roster. The team — which includes nine members of the 2008 gold medal team and 11 total former Olympians — will represent the U.S. for the next three years in competitions such as the FIBA World Championship this summer and 2012 Olympics in London.

Here are the returning Olympians:

2008 Gold Medalists
Carmelo Anthony (Denver Nuggets)
Carlos Boozer (Utah Jazz)
Chris Bosh (Toronto Raptors)
Kobe Bryant (Los Angeles Lakers)
Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic)
LeBron James (Cleveland Cavaliers)
Chris Paul (New Orleans Hornets)
Dwyane Wade (Miami Heat)
Deron Williams (Utah Jazz)

2004 Bronze Medalists
Lamar Odom (Los Angeles Lakers)
Amar’e Stoudemire (Phoenix Suns)

“Special recognition and acknowledgment needs to go to the nine players returning from our 2008 Olympic team,” USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo said in a statement. “They have demonstrated that they are the heart and soul of our program and their commitment to continue to represent their country should not be overlooked.”

Here are the newcomers:

LaMarcus Aldridge
(Portland Trail Blazers)
Chauncey Billups (Denver Nuggets)
Kevin Durant (Oklahoma City Thunder)
Rudy Gay (Memphis Grizzlies)
Eric Gordon (Los Angeles Clippers)
Danny Granger (Indiana Pacers)
Andre Iguodala (Philadelphia 76ers)
Al Jefferson (Minnesota Timberwolves)
David Lee (New York Knicks)
Brook Lopez (New Jersey Nets)
Kevin Love (Minnesota Timberwolves)
O.J. Mayo (Memphis Grizzlies)
Kendrick Perkins (Boston Celtics)
Derrick Rose (Chicago Bulls)
Gerald Wallace
(Charlotte Bobcats)
Russell Westbrook
(Oklahoma City Thunder)

Coach Mike Krzyzewski and assistants Jim Boeheim, Mike D’Antoni and Nate McMillan all are returning for their second run with the national team. They will select a group to take part in a July minicamp to prepare for the World Championship, which runs from Aug. 28 to Sept. 12 in Turkey.

“This is the group from which we will build our 2010 World Championship squad,” Colangelo said. “We are taking the Worlds very seriously and know that this is the most important basketball competition in international basketball, and it needs to be respected accordingly. We won gold at the 2008 Olympics because of the team we were able to assemble and build, and we’ll all be hard at work to do that again, and finish on top in Turkey this summer.

The Associated Press reports that although the athletes have committed to all or part of the three years, James, Wade and Bosh are uncertain about playing this summer due to impending free agency.
