Jon Lester Working on Changeup, Ready to Begin Season Healthy
Red Sox lefty Jon Lester looked like he was ready to begin the season after baffling the Baltimore Orioles in Wednesday's 14-6 win. He sat down with NESN's Don Orsillo to dish on several topics.
"The main thing is that we have to stay healthy," Lester explained to Orsillo about the currently six-deep starting rotation. "If we can get through the spring and to the real games, things should be pretty good this year."
Lester is working on developing his changeup, and he admitted it's been a difficult transition.
"It's hard to get out on the mound and when you get that competitive nature going, you want to do what your normally do and that's go to your strengths," Lester explained. "It's hard to go out there and focus on weaknesses and make sure you work on those."
Check out the video below for more of Lester's take on the coming season, including his relationship with pitching coach John Farrell.
