Leon Powe Thinks Celtics Look ‘Old’

Leon Powe won a world championship with the Boston Celtics two years ago, but according to The Associated Press, he thinks age may have caught up to this year's squad, especially on defense.

"I don't know if it's effort or maybe they're a little older," Powe told the AP. "But they've been old."

Powe suffered a torn ACL in the Celtics' playoff series against the Chicago Bulls last season. Boston did not offer the former second-round pick out of California a contract in the offseason, and Powe signed a two-year deal with Cleveland.

The power forward made his return from injury — and his Cavaliers debut — against the Celtics on Feb. 25 in a 108-88 Cleveland victory at the TD Garden. Thus far, Cleveland is undefeated in the seven games Powe has played.

Powe has faced the Celtics twice, and from what he has seen, the 26-year-old thinks Boston's defense has some serious improvements to make if the C's hope to recapture postseason glory.

"Looking at the defense from the championship year, when we won it, it doesn't look the same," Powe told the AP after the Cavaliers' victory over the Celtics on Sunday. "It looks like the rotation is slower and they ain't getting to the shooters and closing out like they did before."
