Red Sox Acquire Kevin Frandsen for Player to Be Named Later

The Boston Red Sox have acquired infielder Kevin Frandsen from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for a player to be named later or cash.

Frandsen played in 23 games for the Giants last season, batting .140 with one RBI. In Triple-A last year, Frandsen hit .295 with 13 homers and 55 RBIs.

In his career, he's played in 174 major league games, with his career high coming in 2007 with 109. Frandsen, 27, owns a career .240 average at the major league level, with seven home runs and 39 RBIs. He's spent parts of 91 games at second base, 32 games at shortstop, 13 games in the outfield and nine at third base.

The Red Sox announced that they expected Frandsen to report to the team's major league camp on Saturday.
