The Celtics swung a deal with the Knicks at the trading deadline to bring in two fresh young bodies to bolster Doc Rivers' rotation. One's already been relegated to the end of the bench; and as of Friday, the other is out the door.
Marcus Landry, the throw-in piece of the trade that brought Nate Robinson to Boston on Feb. 18, was placed on waivers Friday afternoon, ending his time with the Celtics before it really started. Landry had been assigned to the Maine Red Claws of the NBA's Developmental League on March 6, and was recalled on April 4. He never scored a point in a Celtics uniform.
Landry is near the end of a one-year contract worth $457,588. He was traded to the Celtics along with Robinson for Eddie House, Bill Walker and J.R. Giddens.
His lone appearance with the Celtics was a three-minute stint against the Cavaliers on Feb. 25. He missed two 3-point attempts.
As for the other former Knicks player in the Celtics' deadline trade, Robinson has been benched in two of the C's last three games. The jury's still out on why Celtics GM Danny Ainge bothered with this deal in the first place.
