At least he's heating up somewhere.

Former major leaguer Eric Byrnes is regaining his stroke — just not where anyone expected. The Mariners blog at Seattlepi.com reports that Byrnes hit a pair of homers in front of a whopping 14 observers in a recent game for The Dutch Goose of the Menlo Park beer league in Menlo Park, Calif.

It's a long way from the majors, but it's something.

The pair of homers marked the first game in which the retired infielder went deep this season. How did he commemorate it? By retrieving the ball from the stands and giving it to his mother.

The 34-year-old spent 11 seasons in the majors with Oakland, Arizona and Seattle. He compiled a career average of .258 with 109 homers and 396 RBIs.
