Who says you can’t hit a girl? Certainly not Rafik Saifi.

After the United States’ stunning World Cup victory on Wednesday, Algerian soccer player Saifi was not exactly pleased.

Saifi, walking through the interviewing area, slapped female journalist Asma Halimi across the face without provocation, Yahoo Sports reports. She responded by hitting him in the mouth.

"I said nothing to him and he reached over and hit me," Halimi told Yahoo. "So I hit him back. I said nothing to him first."

Saifi then reportedly threw a sports drink bottle at a wall, and Halimi was escorted away by security.

According to Yahoo Sports, the two had previously disagreed about an article Halimi wrote for her newspaper in Algeria. Halimi plans to file an official complaint with FIFA and the Algerian F.A. about the incident.
