Celtics Center Kendrick Perkins Playing With 'Self-Discipline' In NBA Finals BOSTON — With the possibility of an automatic suspension looming with every whistle, Celtics center Kendrick Perkins said he needed to change his attitude during the NBA Finals, and he's not surprised in his ability to be a better citizen on the court.

"Any time I'm thinking about going overboard, I catch myself, just self-discipline," Perkins said an hour before Game 5 on Sunday night. "I really haven’t been worrying about it. I've just been going out there, playing aggressive and things have been working out well."

Perkins has been sitting on six technical fouls in the postseason for the last five games, and the next one will result in an automatic one-game suspension. The fiery big man has played well on the defensive end — save for maybe Game 1 of the Finals — despite his personal restraint, so he thinks he can keep that self-discipline going throughout the rest of his career.

"Yeah, I think so," Perkins said. "I think it's a learning process, but I think I can do it."
