Peter Chiarelli: 'You Might See a Couple of Trades on Our Part' To trade or not to trade? That’s what Bruins fans are asking.

Especially regarding a guy like goalie Tim Thomas, who has been the subject of trade rumors all offseason.

“First let me say that Tim Thomas does not want to be traded, and
second that I know he wants to be the No. 1 goalie on the Bruins,” Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli told WEEI on Wednesday morning’s Dennis & Callahan show. “Having said that, if we keep all things as is we’ll be
tight but we’ll be fine. The [salary] cap is up to $59.6 [million], so
we’re fine that way.

“So looking at all these options, I said last week
about Tim that if something comes up I’ll discuss it with Tim and his
family,” he added. “We are not overtly looking [to trade] but there are teams
looking for goalies so we’ll see how that unfolds.”

But The Tank isn’t the only one involved in trade talks and Chiarelli admitted on Wednesday that the team could be making moves this summer, leading up to a highly anticipated 2010-11 season.

“I don’t know if you’ll see us go after any premier, well in fact I do, we won’t go after any premier guys,” he said. “We feel that we’ve added two premier players in Nathan Horton and Tyler Seguin in the last week or so.

“What you might see from us is another trade or two. These trades are around free agency period and happen because teams are deciding how to spend their money. I’ve had a couple of conversations with teams. You might see a couple of trades on our part.”

But that also means: you might not, right? Stay tuned, Hub.
