Red Sox Purchase Contract of Outfielder Daniel Nava From Triple-A Pawtucket

The Red Sox purchased the contract of outfielder Daniel Nava from Pawtucket on Saturday and sent Josh Reddick back to the minor leagues.

The 27-year-old Nava was signed by the Sox out of the independent Golden League in 2007. With the PawSox this season, he is hitting .294 with eight homers, 38 RBIs, and owns a .492 slugging percentage.

In 147 games over the last two seasons in the Sox system, Nava hit .345 with 49 doubles, 15 home runs and 95 RBIs.

The switch-hitter will start in left field and bat ninth against Joe Blanton and the Phillies on Saturday at Fenway Park.
