Tony's Seafood Wins Second Straight Chowder Cook-Off Championship
You can’t think of New England without thinking about chowder.
This past weekend, Newport, R.I., was home to the annual Great Chowder Cook-Off. Contestants came from all over the country with one goal in mind: being crowned the champ.
The competition was broken into three major categories: clam, seafood and creative.
Tony’s Seafood from Cedar Key, Fla., took home its second straight championship. Can't make it all the way to Florida for a taste? Not to worry, Tony’s World Championship Chowder is available online and ships anywhere in the country.
Hemenway’s in Providence, R.I., and Stella Blues out of Warren, R.I., rounded out the top three winners.
Michael’s Seafood in Carolina Beach, N.C., won in the seafood category while Hammerhead Grill in Narragansett, R.I., took second and Tracy’s Clam Shack brought third place bragging rights all the way back to Juneau, Alaska.
It was a great competition on the Newport Yachting Center, with more events going on all summer.
