Even if Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow never plays a down in the NFL, there will still be plenty of fans walking around the Mile High City with the college standout’s No. 15 on their chests.

According to the Denver Post, the former Heisman Trophy winner and 25th overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft had the league’s top-selling jersey from April 1 to June 30. The numbers are based on total jerseys sold on the league’s website, NFLShop.com.

Tebow is currently third on the Denver Broncos' depth chart behind Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn but is already a league-wide phenomenon due to his illustrious college career.

The 22-year-old won two national championships while at the University of Florida, in addition to winning the Heisman Trophy in 2007 and being named First-Team All-American twice and First-Team All-SEC three times.

There has been a lot of debate on what kind of player Tebow will be at the next level, as there have been mixed reviews on his NFL makeup. Nevertheless, he enters the league with a sparkling college resume, an unprecedented amount of hype and now as the catalyst for a merchandise bonanza.

In fact, Tebow is not the only rookie to make an early splash in jersey sales. He is among three rookies whose jersey sales catapulted into the top 10 upon entering into the league.

Ndamukong Suh, the second overall pick in the 2010 draft, had the eighth-best selling jersey during the April 1-June 30 time frame, while No. 1 overall pick Sam Bradford’s St. Louis Rams jersey was the ninth-best seller.

There has also apparently been a lot of interest in rookies Dez Bryant, a wide receiver selected by the Dallas Cowboys at No. 24 overall, and Eric Berry, a safety selected by the Kansas City Chiefs at No. 5 overall. Their jerseys ranked 15th and 18th, respectively.

So why are fans going off the deep end for players who have yet to step foot on the playing field? It must be about being the first to own them.

Sometimes it’s probably better to wait and see when it comes to jerseys before shelling out at least $80 though. After all, you can never be too sure of one’s impact come the regular season. Just ask those who continue to sport their No. 47 John Lynch Patriots jerseys whether they feel they made a wise investment.
