Kevin Youkilis Needs Fans’ Help As Nick Swisher Retakes All-Star Vote Lead

Maybe, just maybe, Yankees outfielder Nick Swisher's shameless All-Star campaigning is working.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Swisher passed Red Sox first baseman Kevin Youkilis in the voting for the 2010 All-Star Game Final Vote.

This all comes a day after Swisher sent out messages on his Twitter accounts to celebrities like LeBron James, Jennifer Lopez and Paul McCartney asking them for their support in trying to get him to the All-Star game.

Fans can vote through Thursday at 4 p.m. ET for the final roster spot for both leagues. Youkilis and Swisher are joined by White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko, Rangers third baseman Michael Young and Twins outfielder Delmon Young.

So far, it's been a two-man race between Youkilis and Swisher, but Konerko is making a push up the charts with the support of South Siders who have launched the "Pauliewood" campaign in an effort to get Konerko to the Midsummer Classic, which will take place on July 13 in Anaheim, Calif.

Youkilis might get a push with the help of two cities — Boston and Cincinnatti. Youkilis' hometown is Cincinatti, and they've forged a "Vote Red" campaign to try to help get Youkilis and Reds first baseman Joey Votto into the game.

Votto, who is a candidate for the final NL roster spot, continued to hold the lead for the Senior Circuit being followed by Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, Braves pitcher Billy Wagner and Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez.

Red Sox fans can vote here to try to help Youkilis take back the lead and represent the Red Sox next week in Anaheim.
