The Belichick hoodie became synonymous with the stoic head coach years ago, when the league established a new rule stating head coaches could only wear Reebok team apparel during games. Instead of opting for the coaches options laid out by Reebok (polo shirts, sweater vests, windbreakers etc.) Belichick chose the charcoal grey hooded sweatshirt, which was originally made for the players.
Since then, Belichick has donned the hoodie, and has more recently cut the sleeves below the elbows off for an more hobo-like look. It's spawned a huge uptrend in hoodie sales, however, for Reebok. Patriots' fans across the nation demand the 'Belichick hoodie' and the garment is now sold for $79.95 in NFL apparel stores.
This summer in training camp, Belichick has started sporting a new look on the sidelines. The coach has once again taken out his handy dandy scissors, and it looks like he's hacked off the collar of his shirt. The Flashdance look is back folks, and Belichick is bringing it back in full force. All he needs now are some leg warmers.
Seriously, what is this look? I know that its summer time and Foxboro has been extra steamy lately, so I understand the hoodie would be a bit much. But it looks like Belichick asked a five-year-old to cut him a makeshift v-neck. What's next … Daisy Dukes?
When it all comes down to it though, Belichick could wear a muumuu on the sidelines and he'd still be a phenomenal football coach. He's like the mad scientist of football, absolutely brilliant, but a little bit crazy at the same time.
It will be interesting to see if Patriots fans adopt this new style trend like they did the last one. It may not look quite as official, but it's definitely cheaper.
