Terry Francona announced before Wednesday night's game against the Indians that Daniel Nava will be sent back down to Triple-A Pawtucket to make room on the roster for Jacoby Ellsbury.

On Tuesday night, Francona said that Ellsbury would be activated Wednesday, but he wasn't quite ready to say who would be moved.

Nava, 27, has played 30 games with the big club this season, batting a healthy .290, with a homer and 16 RBIs.

Another option would have been to send Ryan Kalish down, but the 22-year-old has been tearing the cover off the ball since getting called up on July 31. He's hitting .538 with a double and two RBIs in 13 at-bats.
