Josh Beckett Emerging as Early Favorite for Jerry Remy's Top Dawg of the Week Award A three-hit, eight-strikeout performance on Tuesday night could win Josh Beckett a couple of votes in this week's Top Dawg of the Week voting.

His fiery antics during the shoving match with the Indians following that dominant performance should win him hundreds and hundreds of more votes.

Beckett was tossed following a heated exchange with members of the Cleveland Indians during a bench-clearing shoving match. The right-hander may have instigated things by plunking a pair of Tribe batsmen earlier in the contest. These beanings prompted Cleveland pitchers to throw behind David Ortiz and Adrian Beltre, with the latter causing both benches to meet on the field.

Losing votes this week will be Kevin Youkilis, who was placed on the DL after jamming his thumb on Monday night. Infielder Jed Lowrie, also a named a contender at the beginning of the week, has gone just 1-for-5 heading into Wednesday night's contest. Although he has no RBIs, Ortiz is swinging a hot stick as he's 3-for-8 so far this series, and could be the first Top Dawg Award winner.

Below is the poll, which will run until Sunday.
