Mets Shortstop Jose Reyes Leaves Game Early with Injury With just two innings under his belt Thursday night against the Florida Marlins, Mets shortstop Jose Reyes left the game citing pain in his oblique muscle.

Trainers determined the injury was mild strain, but have already stated that they would not allow Reyes to play again until he was experiencing no pain whatsoever. He has encountered pain in his oblique area before, and re-aggravated the injury after he hit a line-drive single into right field.

Reyes missed most of last season with a severe hamstring injury, playing just 36 games throughout the year. This year, however, he has remained healthy, playing in his 112th game on Thursday when he left with injury.

This year, Reyes posts a .286 batting average with eight triples, eight home runs and 44 RBI. The infielder, known for his speedy presence on the base paths, has stolen 28 bases this season ranking him fourth in the National League.
