This may not come as a surprise to many, but the verdict is in, and the Red Sox have the best sports fans in America supporting them.

Forbes Magazine released their list of "America's Best Sports Fans" and Red Sox Nation was dubbed No. 1 by the business publication.

The magazine used three categories — home attendance, merchandise sales and "in-market popularity" — to rank the best fans among the "Big Four" sports in America.

"They pack Fenway when the team is in town, and fill other stadiums when they’re on the road," Forbes said of Sox fans. "They stayed true throughout an epic dry spell, when the Sox went 86 years without winning a World Series — and when the team finally broke that drought in 2004, they grew even more fanatic."

Red Sox fans weren't the only New England fanbase represented. Patriots fans ranked No. 5, while the Celtics' loyal following checked in at No. 7.

New York Yankees fans were ranked No. 14 and fans of the Los Angeles Lakers came in at No. 12.
