Joe Maddon Continues Odd Managerial Stunts, Has Rays Wear John Daly Pants to New York

You shouldn't mess with a good thing when you're winning, so Joe Maddon is keeping up his odd tradition of having the Tampa Bay Rays dress in themed costumes as a team when they depart on road trips.

Heading into their pivotal four-game set at Yankee Stadium, the Rays gave tribute to golf legend John Daly and manager Clarence "Pants" Rowland.

The Rays had already done 1970s flannel, all white, urban cowboy, Johnny Cash and Ed Hardy themes thus far this season.

Baseball is a superstitious game, and these gimmicks seem to be working for the league's best road team. Likewise, Maddon's hair dye gimmick in 2009 didn't produce results, so that one hasn't been repeated.

The Rays' stunt has become so notable that it was even sponsored by clothier Loudmouth this time around.
