Shaquille O’Neal hasn’t acted in many movies, but he’s acted alongside a lot of great actors.

In 1994’s Blue Chips, Shaq plays alongside actors such as Nick Nolte, Ed O’Neill (of Married…With Children and the more recent Modern Family), and Robert Wuhl, of Arliss fame.

In the movie, Shaq plays Neon Boudeaux, one of several players who are recruited by a college booster to play for coach Pete Bell (Nolte). Bell’s Western University Dolphins have been a losing team, and the booster wants to turn their luck around by giving large gifts to Neon and other high school players to get them to join the Dolphins. Bell is disgusted with the practice of bribing these “blue chip” players, but he also wants to win.

The film featured cameos from basketball legends like Larry Bird and Dick Vitale. Nolte’s character is based on college basketball coach Bobby Knight, and Knight himself plays the coach of the Indiana team in the film.

Shaq, meanwhile, plays the dumb guy, who struggles to keep his grades up. Check out this scene where Shaq and Nick Nolte take on Bobby Knight and the Hoosiers.

NESN.com will showcase one Moment of Shaq every day until the Celtics open the season against the Heat on Oct. 26 at the TD Garden.
