FOXBORO, Mass. — Tom Brady has the shaggy hair, the supermodel wife and the L.A. lifestyle. Now, he's got the label as the richest guy to ever throw a football.

Oh, the ammo keeps on rolling in by the truckload for his teammates.

"He enjoys getting razzed and things like that," Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker said. "I think there's got to be people that kind of bring him back down to earth every once in awhile because his life is just extraordinary sometimes. It's fun to mess with him. There are too many rookie skits I think I could come up with for the guy.

"He's still the same Tom to us, so we're still going to razz him and really just give him a hard time about all the money he's made and things like that, tell him to dress better a certain day. Sometimes he slacks in that area. A lot of people don’t see it, but he does."

In case of the highly unlikely event that money was tight in the Brady household, the Patriots quarterback has a little extra cash flow to spend on some better looking clothes. He signed a contract extension Thursday reportedly worth $72 million over four years, with $48.5 million guaranteed.

Joking aside, at least temporarily, Brady's teammates were very happy to see him reach such a prolific deal.

"Oh, there's no question, nobody deserves it more, and I'm happy for him," Welker said. "I know it's probably been a long process and things like that. I'm happy he's here, and happy he's here for a long time."

Head coach Bill Belichick got in on the act, too.

"There’s no quarterback I’d rather have than Tom Brady," Belichick said. "He does a great job for us in all phases of the game."
