FOXBORO, Mass. — Bill Belichick shared a funny exchange with a reporter Wednesday afternoon regarding Minnesota head coach Brad Childress‘ chilly comments directed toward the Patriots.

Childress called the Patriots some of the all-time great sign stealers in reference to the Spygate incident, and Belichick was asked for his reaction to Childress’ curious comments.

“I’m not really too worried about 2006,” Belichick said. “I’m worried about this Sunday against Minnesota. I’m not worried about next Sunday, last Sunday, ’06, ’02, ’89. It’s really this Sunday.”

Belichick was then asked what exactly would motivate a coach to give his opposition some bulletin-board material that stuck out like a neon sign on the Las Vegas strip.

“I don’t know, “Belichick said. “Really, I’m just trying to coach this team and get ready for the Vikings. [You’d] have to talk to the other coaches.”

And finally, Belichick, who appeared amused at the line of questioning, was asked if it was his policy not to talk about past games.

“Yeah, we’ve talked about some other games before, but I mean really, my focus is the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday afternoon,” Belichick said. “That’s what I’m here for. Is that what you were looking for?”
