Claude Julien Announces Tyler Seguin Will Stay With Bruins This Season BOSTON — A banner night for Tyler Seguin got a little better than expected.

Seguin celebrated scoring his second NHL goal — and first on Boston ice — midway through the second period of Thursday's 2-0 win over Toronto, but the real good news came well after the game. Bruins coach Claude Julien announced at the end of his postgame news conference that the Bruins will keep Seguin in Boston for the season.

"Guys, before we go here, the question has been asked, and [Bruins GM] Peter [Chiarelli] asked me to advise Seguin that he will be staying with us," said Julien. "I just told him before coming in here that he's here to stay this year."

The Bruins could have sent Seguin back to his junior team in Plymouth after nine games without using up a season of his three-year entry-level deal, but they needed just seven games to see that the 18-year-old belongs in the NHL.

Seguin, who now has 2-2-4 totals in seven games, discussed the situation with the media after the game, but before being informed that he would be staying in Boston for the full season.

"I think I've come out here and worked my hardest and in the end that's all I can ask of myself," said Seguin. "I believe that I've been improving and adapting to the situation. If they don't think I'm ready, then I'm going to go back to junior and I have to stay positive and keep developing down there. And if they keep me up here I'm going to keep doing the same."

The Bruins will be keeping him up with the big club, and they're counting on his big night against his hometown team being just the first of many memorable performances for the youngster.
