FOXBORO, Mass. — Sunday’s physical game against the Ravens has taken a toll on the Patriots, who were missing three players from Wednesday’s practice — their first of the week.

Running back Fred Taylor hasn’t practiced for four weeks with a toe injury, and he was joined in the medical ward by wide receiver Julian Edelman (head) and safety Jarrad Page (left calf), both of whom were injured in the second half of Sunday’s overtime victory.

Page, who announced his Yankees hatred to the world Tuesday night, knew immediately he wouldn’t return to Sunday’s game, evidenced by removing his cleat, sock and tape on the sideline. The Patriots signed rookie safety Ross Ventrone to the practice squad Tuesday.

Edelman has been around the facility this week but hasn’t spoken to the media. He appeared to be in a good mood, though, for what that’s worth.

The Patriots’ practice players of the week were wide receiver Matthew Slater, linebacker Dane Fletcher, offensive lineman Ryan Wendell, defensive lineman Kyle Love, linebacker Shawn Crable, wide receiver Darnell Jenkins and tight end Carson Butler.
