New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis’ problems keep piling up.
Revis has been dealing with a hamstring injury that has made his status unknown for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos. Now, he’ll also be dealing with the court system.
The 2007 first-round draft pick was caught going 80 mph in a 40 mph zone on the Eisenhower Parkway near Livingston, N.J., on Thursday morning and received a ticket for speeding and careless driving, the New York Post reports.
Revis said he was running late to a prepractice meeting.
“I’m not a speedster,” Revis told the Post. “I don’t do that. I was a little late for work, and I was just trying to get here to work. You face the consequences when you speed, and that’s what happens.”
Revis is the second Jets player to be pulled over by police this season. In September, wide receiver Braylon Edwards was charged with a DWI.
Revis said he deserved the ticket and will not fight the charges. Revis’ court date is set for Nov. 4.
