Florida Panthers center Stephen Weiss is likely among those who aren't surprised one bit by the early success of newly acquired Bruin and former Panther forward Nathan Horton.

Weiss, who played with Horton during Horton's entire Florida career, spoke recently about what the loss of Horton means for Weiss as a player, what it means for the Panthers and what he expects Horton to do as a Bruin.

"It's going to change a lot," Weiss told Yahoo Sports about the offseason trade that sent Horton to Boston. "He's a world class player. It's nice to have that right shot on your line who sees the ice that well."

That same shot has already accounted for three goals in the Bruins' two opening games this weekend in Prague, something that Weiss feels Horton will continue to do.

"…sky's the limit for him," Weiss added. "I don't want to give him too much confidence because I'm playing against him. But I've said it before: He's got the talent to be one of the best players in the league."

Along the high praise of his ex-teammate, Weiss said he respected Horton's desire to play elsewhere even after the two had developed a rapport on a line together.

"Nathan put his time in here, and we went through some tough times. It's up to each individual guy to decide if he wants to stay here and push through and get this thing turned around; or if you want to go somewhere else. And that was up to him."
