Michael Jordan once scored 38 points in the NBA Finals while battling the flu, but Virginia Tech left guard Greg Nosal gave Jordan’s performance the finger.
During Saturday’s win over Central Michigan, Nosal, a redshirt junior, severed the tip of his pinky when the digit got caught between two helmets, according to the Washington Post. Nosal amazingly stayed in for the next three plays until going to the locker room shortly before halftime. At that time, medical staff found the missing piece in Nosal’s glove and wrapped the slice in gauze and put it on ice to keep the tissue alive.
As for Nosal, a little finger dressing, a cast and pain medication were all he needed to get back into the game. He played in the third quarter but then had to get back to the locker room to have his finger put back together in time.
“I guess it’s a big deal if your pinky gets ripped off,” Nosal told the Post. “I really didn’t think too much of it. It happens. It’s football.”
Nosal’s bravado has to be the craziest act of this year’s college football season, hands down.
