Just about every club in Europe has been and will continue to be linked to 17-year-old Romelu Lukaku, but a report from Ireland has Liverpool in the best position to land the prodigy.

Joe.ie reported that Liverpool is “said to be in the driver’s seat” in the bidding for Lukaku, as the team is reportedly willing to match the price tag of his current team in Belgium, Anderlecht.

Lukaku led Anderlecht in scoring last year with 15 goals and has 121 goals in 88 youth matches and 22 goals in 48 pro matches.

Though Liverpool appears to be the front-runner at the moment, there will be stiff competition from Chelsea, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Tottenham and others.

According to LFC TV, “It is the Reds who are possibly most in need of the player’s services … with [Roy] Hodgson thought to be searching for a new attacking foil for Fernando Torres at Liverpool. Lukaku could fit the bill nicely.”
