Report: Tennessee Titans Awarded Randy Moss off Waiver Wire The Tennessee Titans put in a claim for Randy Moss on Wednesday. Because none of the 21 teams who had a chance to land the wide receiver before the Titans took a chance on him, he was awarded to the Titans.

Jim Wyatt of the Nashville Tennesseean reported that Tennessee had been rewarded Moss on Twitter. Earlier in the day, it was reported that the Titans put a claim on Moss, but it was unknown at the time if teams higher in the selecting order would do the same.

Though there was widespread speculation as to whether Moss would actually report to whichever team claimed him, ProFootballTalk.com reported that Moss will indeed play for the Titans.

Tennessee is currently 5-3 and in second place in the AFC South, behind the 5-2 Colts. With two games against the Colts still remaining on the schedule, Jeff Fisher‘s team will be gunning for the division crown, and they’ll be doing so with a Hall of Fame (if a bit eccentric) wide receiver.

Tennessee was one of the teams thought to be interested in Moss, as wideout Kenny Britt is out for the foreseeable future with a hamstring injury.

It was surprising to various degrees that Oakland, St. Louis and Miami passed on their chances to sign Moss. The Rams were reportedly interested but, according to ESPN.com’s Chris Mortensen, he didn’t fit into their team plans.

Then again, he’s burned through two teams in a month’s time, so he may not fit in with too many teams at this point.

With Tennessee, Moss joins an offense that has Chris Johnson at running back. Johnson is currently third in the league in rushing yards (721) and first in rushing touchdowns with eight. Vince Young and Kerry Collins have been serviceable under center, combining to complete 59.8 percent of their 209 passes for 1,585 yards, 14 touchdowns and five interceptions.
