Thanksgiving NFL Picks Giving Jets One Last Chance to Prove They Can Win Convincingly When you're holding fast hope that the Denver Broncos can pull off a miracle fourth quarter on a Monday night to simply lose by nine points rather than 21 points, you probably didn't have too good of a week.

That was me last weekend (7-8-1), but fortunately, it's a short week, so it's time to clean up the scrapes and bruises and get prepared for some Turkey Day football.

I won't be going it alone this week, either. Based on last week's sub-.500 performance, I'm going head-to-head with one Mr. George Washington to see who knows more about football. Yup — I'll be listing my own picks and also be posting the results of my coin flips. Heads for the home team, tails for the road team, and it's up to you to decide whom you trust more.

I might go with George.

New England (-6.5) over DETROIT

The Patriots will win, but by how much?

Consider that the Lions have played teams tough at home. Even if you throw out that aberrational 44-6 win over the Rams, they're still outscoring opponents 89-83. It's simply a question of whether last week's awful loss to the Cowboys derails this team's focus and sends them a bit off course.

That idea, coupled with the confidence in New England's locker room after beating Peyton Manning, has me leaning to take the Patriots to cover.

Or you could go with the coin, which apparently thinks the Patriots are exhausted from getting worked by Manning in the fourth quarter.

Ridiculous Quote From Last Week's Picks: "The last time we saw Dallas at home, the defense was busy making David Garrard look like a Hall of Famer. Let's see if it's Shaun Hill's turn now."

Note: Well, not yet.

New Orleans (-3.5) over DALLAS
Coin flip pick: DALLAS (+3.5)

Seriously, quarter? It has to be like this?

Quarter quarrels aside, it's time for the letdown from the Boys. I mean, 16-point victories against the Lions are fun and all, but the Saints have greater goals in mind than saving face — they're trying to win their division.

I'm thinking Drew Brees erupts, allowing you take the post-dinner nap and ignore the afternoon NFL game for the umpteenth time in your life.

NEW YORK JETS (-9) over Cincinnati
Coin flip pick: NEW YORK JETS (-9)

At this point, I'm not sure the Jets can beat anyone by a touchdown. Yet, if they can beat any team by a touchdown, it's likely the Bengals.

You know, the same Bengals who blew a 28-7 lead last week. OK, that's putting it mildly. They didn't just blow a 28-7 lead last week. They blew a 28-7 lead last week to the Bills. They blew a 28-7 lead last week to the Bills and ended up losing 49-31.

That is borderline impossible, so I'll give the Jets one more chance.
