It will be a very happy holiday season for Carl Crawford.

On top of his freshly-inked $142 million contract with the Boston Red Sox, the left fielder also will receive a $6 million signing bonus, according to ESPN.com.

A baseball source reported the figure, following the news that Crawford successfully passed his physical on Friday. Crawford’s salary will continually increase throughout his seven years in Boston, starting with $14 million in 2011 and reaching the $20 million mark in 2013. His salary will top out at $21 million in 2017.

The Red Sox will officially introduce Crawford on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at Fenway Park. NESN will have the live broadcast of the news conference, followed by a special edition episode of Red Sox Hot Stove Live.
