Monday on As Carmelo's World Turns, New Jersey Nets head coach Avery Johnson admitted to not being totally in the loop in regards to the latest rumors involving All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony.
Recent reports indicated that the Nets were going to be allowed to sit down with the embattled Nuggets forward to discuss a possible contract extension. According to Yahoo, though, Johnson knows nothing of the meeting.
"You guys have something new every day," Johnson told reporters, as the team readied for a game with the Warriors. "If there's such a meeting taking place, make sure you guys contact [Nets spokesman] Gary Sussman so I can make sure I make myself available."
If the Nets were able to score a meeting with Anthony, it would be a rather large step forward as the team wants to have a contract extension in place before pulling the trigger on what would be a three-team trade to acquire the All-Star.
The Nets are reportedly trying to get Anthony, a free agent following this season, to sign a three-year, $65 million contract extension. The forward turned down the same deal from the Nuggets this past summer.
