In less than a month, 20-year-old David Warsofsky will be getting his chance to skate at the TD Garden as a Boston Bruins prospect. He won’t be playing for his dream team, but skating for the Boston University Terriers in the Beanpot should suffice.

The Marshfield, Mass., native had his rights picked up by the Bruins this past June at the NHL draft as part of a trade that sent forward Vladimir Sobotka to the St. Louis Blues.

Now, he has yet to miss a game this season for the Terriers, coming up with the second-most points on the 10-5-6 team. The No. 16 Terriers are sitting in third place in Hockey East thanks in part to Warsofsky’s five goals and 12 assists for 17 points, including three goals on the power play unit.

Since the defenseman won the NCAA Division I title his freshman season and a gold medal with the 2010 IIHF World Junior Champions during his sophomore year, he has continued to match his career high points in games and has earned player of the week honors from Inside College Hockey, Hockey East and New England Hockey journal.

The awards were announced after Warsofsky tallied five points (two goals, three assists) in leading BU to the title at the season-opening Ice Breaker Tournament with wins over No. 13 Wisconsin and No. 17 Notre Dame.

Bruins fans got an up-close-and-personal look at the 5-foot-9 Warsofsky on Saturday night as the BU downed Harvard 5-2 at Agganis Arena. The defenseman was held scoreless, but was a +1 with four shots on goal, and was a key contributor to the Terrier power play.
