After a full day's worth of conflicting reports, the Andy Carroll saga has been settled, with Liverpool and Newcastle officially reaching agreement on a transfer fee for the striker.

"Liverpool FC confirmed this afternoon that Newcastle United had accepted a club record offer for the transfer of Andy Carroll," Liverpool stated on its website. "[Liverpool has] been given permission by Newcastle to discuss personal terms with the player, who will now travel to Liverpool for a medical."

The club did not release terms of the agreement. A £30 million ($47.5 million) bid was reportedly rejected, then a £35 million ($56.1 million) bid was reportedly agreed upon. That changed shortly after, however, with a Sky Sports report that Newcastle had rejected the £35 million bid and that the chances of Carroll remaining with Newcastle were 2-to-1.
